Rabbi Dr. Analia Bortz
Rabbi Dr. Analia Bortz
Born in 1967, I am a rabbi and a medical doctor, married to Rabbi Mario Karpuj, and am the mother of two daughters. I was ordained in 1994 by The Seminario Rabínico Latinoamericano, founded by Rabbi Marshall Meyer (z “l), a Rabbinic School that has transformed Latin America Jewry in the past 40 years.
I love to serve my congregation and to open my home in order to create a "heimish" relationship with our members, their families, and to build a strong sense of community.
I enjoy teaching young children, pre and post B’nai Mitzvah (in addition to tutoring them for their transcendental simcha), teenagers, young adults, adults and seniors. The preparation for these classes gives me the opportunity to increase my own knowledge as well as to convey high quality material to the students.
In my classes and from the pulput (in both sermons and in Divrei Torah), I encourage a strong relationship with Israel as well as a connection between Torah and current events.
I love to be involved in our members’ simchas in order to live and experience with them the Jewish joy of celebrations (that make a difference in their lives) as well as to console them during times of sorrow.
My training and experience in serving in two vocations, both as a Rabbi and as a Medical Doctor, has enabled me to have a special sensitivity in developing relationships with people who suffer pain in their body or in their soul.
I love to sing, read Torah and Haftarah and make our services a truly participatory experience.
People that work with me think that I am a very knowledgeable person, one who is creative, loving, possessing the capacity to listen and teach as well as have the ability to create interesting activities that capture the attention of various people.
I don’t consider my Rabbinate a job; to me it is a vocation. I serve this vocation with "Neshama".
