Women's Extension Dinner: The Recovery Ministry at Sacred Tapestry reaches out to the community by hosting a dinner each month for the particpants of the Womens Extension. This is a non-profit, community-supported organization serving Cobb County and the entire metropolitan Atlanta area.  The facility provides addiction recovery services through a comprehensive long-term residential recovery program for indigent women. That includes inpatient counseling, life skills, transitional assistance and various other personal needs.

The goal of the dinner is to both serve a home cooked meal and interact with the residents. Volunteers from Sacred Tapestry serve 12 dinners over the year, the 3rd Monday of each month. Details about meals are below:

For How Many: The dinner is for 18 - 20 women program residents, plus those serving the meal. Its important for volunteers to share dinner with program residents.

What to Fix: A monthly theme (Italian, TexMex, Meatloaf, and such) will be announced and volunteers will be asked for donations of entres, side items, salad, bread, dessert, and cold drinks. Things to think about are ease of preparation, cost, and whether or not you wish to prepare all or a portion of dinner off-site (at your home or church) or if you want to cook everything at our facility.  If pre-arranged, refrogerated items can be left at Sacred TApestry for later pickup as well. TheExtension  has plenty of pots and pans, a stove and oven and microwave, and an outdoor gas grill at the facility.  There are also plates, bowls and glasses, as well as flatware.  The residents will clean the kitchen, the dining room and wash the dishes, pots and pans.

What Time: Prep starts at 6:45 and dinner is served at 7:00pm.  The residents often have classes and counseling to attend before and after dinner.  Starting dinner promptly at 7:00pm allows the residents to have a full hour to eat and fellowship with each other and the volunteers.

Where: 130 Holiday Street in Marietta, off of Lawrence Street, near the Marietta Square.

Signup sheets for upcoming months are at the Welcome Desk. Schedule contact: Rick Drewien at  rickdrewien@gmail.com
